Abby + Nick's Louisville engagement pictures took an unexpected turn, but luckily, the rest of 2020 up until this point prepared us to come up with a plan B on the spot.
I drove down to Louisville from Cincinnati and Abby and Nick drove up so we could basically meet halfway, about 2 hours for each of us give or take, to do their engagement pictures at University of Louisville. They had both gone here for music and it's how they met, so I was totally down to do engagement pictures on campus! The weather...not so down for it. We had all been watching the weather the entire week, hoping it would clear up, and it looked like it juuusssttttt might. Well, the whole drive down was fine--overcast, sure, but no rain in sight.
I got the the park we had planned to meet at about 10 minutes early, and they coincidentally pulled in right behind me. We ended up driving around to another side of the park where we could walk further into since everything was closed off because of COVID, and pretty much immediately upon parking, the thunder started.

Well...walking into the park 10 minutes just to get rained on and ruin the whole shoot wasn't our favorite idea, so we hung out around the area we parked at and took some pictures in front of someone's beautiful house, on the steps, and in the middle of the street in between cars and dodging the rain. Nothing too bad was happening yet weather-wise, so we decided to head over to U of L campus and get those shots in before the rain really came down.

Naturally, that's exactly when the rain decided to come down. Lol.
Before we even got to the first stoplight, Abby called me in my car right behind them and we changed our plan on the spot, at a red light--new plan: head to The Galt House Hotel where they're staying and do engagement pictures there indoors. Although it wasn't our original plan, and maybe not the ideal change, they made it look like they owned the damn place.

I mean...c'mon!!!
These two were full of so much laughter (my personal favorite photos), but also LOOK AT MY GIRL ABBY KILL IT!!! Have you ever seen someone rock a red dress like that???? And her smize! Giiiirrrrrrrrl 😍 Not only that, but we all three joked that the navy suit for guys is like a push-up bra...basically, it's a small thing that'll do wonders and makes everyone look good. And I'm gonna go ahead and say he is the spokesperson for navy suits after this shoot 🔥
P.S. she chose her dress from a list of What to Wear for Your Engagement Shoot...check that post out, or I'm always more than happy to send over personalized recommendations to make your experience that much more curated to you!

The Galt House Hotel was so generous to let us use their space for photos, and it definitely brought in some of that Louisville feel.
This piece of art these two are in front of with the horses on it definitely gives you some context. It may not be U of L, but I think the pictures turned out pretty dang great.

We finally got the sun to peek out a bit, so we quickly went outdoors to soak it up as much as possible.

I'm always one for pictures with a little motion in them, so after lots of walking around, dipping Abby in the middle of the road, and mini-makeout sessions and hair flips around the hotel, we called it a day. These two went to a fancy dinner to get the most out of their outfits (something I always recommend doing) and I drove back home to Cincy and stuffed my face with Taco Bell.
(Two kinds of people...I think we're all both of them...but this day I was for sure in the Taco Bell face-stuffing mood).
ANYWAYS LOOK AT THESE TWO. FREAKING. FIRE.
