Indoors couples sessions are the perfect way to beat the summer heat and stay cute.
If you follow me on Insta, you've probably seen my ever-growing plant collection featured here and there. These don't stay alive without some help from random internet people in houseplant Facebook groups! I've loved seeing people's new spaces and giant houseplant collections lately, and I thought doing a couples session inside one of these awesome spaces full of color and life would be so much fun and a little nod to my plant-obsessed self.
In one of my favorite groups, I had asked for couples to show me their spaces, and when Stacy replied with a picture of just her and her wife's TV stand and the plants around that, I was already into it. The lighting was beautiful, the plants were lush, and I got such a good vibe from that alone. When I showed up to their house this past Friday morning (masked up, of course), I was blown the heck away by the rest of their space!! My apartment is already pretty colorful and full of plants, but the way that Stacy and Paula had their home decorated is what I dream about!
Not only is their space decorated incredibly well, but their outfits and all the color everywhere screams summer, even without being out in the summer heat. An indoor couples session is a great way to cozy up with some coffee and show off what you've built together.

Anniversary shoots have a special place in my heart.
I love all couples sessions so much, but anniversary photos are such a fun way to see how the two of you have grown. Just like doing family photos every year or two and seeing how your family grows (taller, bigger in number, etc), seeing how you two have changed as a couple and celebrating your relationship is so important to reflect on--why not do it with a fun couples shoot?

I'm generally more of an outdoor couples photographer in Chicago, but I wanted to bring that same energy into the cozy lifestyle session.
When shooting outdoors I can have people run, chase each other, walk a lot, and do pretty much anything we want--inside is a little different when you're in tight quarters. With all this color in Stacy and Paula's home, I wanted to make sure that vibrant energy saw its match. Movement is always a tip I give when taking great photos--that's why I always recommend a flowy dress or skirt, long earrings, wearing your hair down, etc., and also why I'm never mad at the wind (even though I know some of y'all don't like when it messes up your hair...I get that too).
After a quick move of the table, we got some more exciting, energetic couples pictures inside.

And you know I'm a big fan of black and white photos on the blog...so here's my favorite. I could do a whole blurry black and white photoshoot.

Finally, I knew their rug was the perfect rug for those laying down photos you see everywhere--so we made it work in a few different ways. I had such a blast changing up the poses from my usual outdoor couples shoots, and making use of every nook and cranny in this epic space.

Since I had learned it was almost their 1 year anniversary, I wanted to do something a little bit more special and get a few pictures of their rings (you know I never pass up an opportunity for a ring shot!). They had mentioned the polaroids of when they first met and started dating, so of course I had to get the rings with those and then recreate one of the pictures.

After one last smooch sesh on the chair, we called it a day. Since then (it's only been a few days, y'all), I've already gotten to see lots of their pets on Insta, and I will still be following their little houseplant collection :)
